Professional Learning Institute at CCA

Monthly professional development meetings are scheduled to align with the school calendar, proactively addressing the evolving needs of professional teacher candidates. These sessions foster collaboration and cooperation among peers, ultimately strengthening teaching practices.

Throughout the program, Induction candidates develop and pursue three goals aligned with the Teacher Quality Standards and the Charlotte Danielson Framework. 

These goals are regularly reviewed during mentoring conversations and professional development workshops, fostering reflective learning. 

Through systematic data collection and sharing of progress, candidates are encouraged to recognize goal setting as a powerful tool for enhancing their teaching practices and improving student outcomes.
 

Each induction candidate receives personalized support through a pairing with a CDE professionally licensed teacher. These mentors provide 20 hours of dedicated guidance throughout the year and are expertly trained in reflection, questioning, and active listening to effectively support candidates during their crucial first year of teaching. Upon successful completion of the program, mentors are awarded a certificate recognizing their valuable time commitment, which can be utilized for CDE teacher license renewal.
