Enrollment Waitlist and Withdrawal Policies

Enrollment:

Admittance to CCA is done according to placement on the waiting list of prospective students.  Names are placed on the waitlist according to the date that the Waitlist Application for each child is received by our school.  Although the Waitlist Application can be submitted at any time, the date of receipt of the Waitlist Application can be no earlier than the date the child was born.  There are separate waitlists for each grade with each waitlist moving at its own pace.  Parents will be notified by email or phone call when an opening is available for their child.

Waitlist:

Prospective students’ names will be added to a single waitlist for each grade and slots will be offered on a first come, first served basis.

Priority:

Priority enrollment at Cherry Creek Academy is given in the following order:

  1. (a) Students of Cherry Creek Academy full-time employees (0.8 or greater Full Time Equivalent (“FTE”)); and (b) Students of Cherry Creek Academy employees between 0.5 and 0.79 FTE, employed by Cherry Creek Academy.  Priority enrollment will not be considered for any Cherry Creek Academy employees working less than 0.50 FTE.

  2. Kindergartners that received an enrollment offer but whose parents did not accept the enrollment offer for the prior school year because such parents determined the student was not ready for kindergarten at the time enrollment was offered, but only if the kindergartner lives within the boundaries of the Cherry Creek School District.

  3. Siblings of currently enrolled Cherry Creek Academy students. Cherry Creek Academy reserves the right to withhold sibling priority for students whose families have not complied with school policies.

  4. Students who live in the Cherry Creek School District.

  5. Students who live outside of the Cherry Creek School District.

  • A student(s), as defined by Cherry Creek Academy, is a person under the age of 18 who has a biological, adoptive, or legal parental relationship with the Cherry Creek Academy employees.  The relationship between a student and parent must be legally documented before a person will be considered a student of a parent.

  • Enrollment of students residing outside of Cherry Creek School District is limited to 5% of total student enrollment.

  • A sibling(s), as defined by Cherry Creek Academy, is a person who has a brother or sister currently enrolled at Cherry Creek Academy and shares with a brother or sister at least one common biological or adoptive or permanent custodial (with full parental rights) parent.  A student must be in the physical custody of the biological/adoptive/permanent custodial parent and the legal relationship for a biological/adoptive/permanent custodial parent must be finalized and formally documented to show completion of the legal process before a student will be considered a sibling to receive sibling priority.  In an adoption from a foreign country, the legal adoption documents may be from the country from which a student is adopted pending final adoption paperwork from the United States of America.

With the exception of in-Cherry Creek School District priority, priority will be given only once for each student on the waitlist and will no longer apply if an offer of enrollment for such student using priority is declined.  Once a priority slot is declined, a student’s name may stay on the waitlist but the date of the Letter of Intent (i.e. Waitlist Application) will be changed to the date an enrollment offer was declined.  Students will be assigned to each class/grade in order of priority until each classroom has reached its optimal size, as determined by Cherry Creek Academy.

If a grade has been filled and there are no available enrollment opportunities at the time a sibling is eligible to enroll at Cherry Creek Academy, his/her name will be placed on the priority waitlist for that grade. Priority for enrollment will be determined by the earliest date of admission for a sibling currently attending Cherry Creek Academy.

Failure to Claim Priority:

Names will be removed from the waitlist for the following reasons:

  1. Refusal of an available slot. Once a slot is declined for any reason, that student’s name will be deleted from the waitlist unless the parent requests that student’s name remain on the waitlist.  The student’s name may stay on the waitlist but the date of the Letter of Intent (i.e. Waitlist Application) will be changed to the offer of enrollment was declined.

  2. No response to phone calls or to emails sent to parents. It is the sole responsibility of the parent to keep Cherry Creek Academy informed of any changes in address and phone numbers so that Cherry Creek Academy can contact the parent when needed.  Cherry Creek Academy will not contact parents about waitlist changes.

  3. Necessary enrollment forms not submitted in a timely manner.  After accepting enrollment, enrollment forms will be sent to the parent.  These forms need to be returned by the deadline noted to complete the enrollment process.  The parent will also need to register his/her student with the Cherry Creek School District Admissions office as a part of the process to officially enroll his/her student at Cherry Creek Academy.

  4. Non-attendance at a mandatory parent information meeting.  After accepting an offer of enrollment, future Cherry Creek Academy parents are required to attend an information meeting about Cherry Creek Academy’s policies, protocols, and expectations of parents and students.  Failure of the parent to attend a meeting will result in the disenrollment of that student from Cherry Creek Academy.

Admissions Cutoff Dates:

New students are admitted until October 1st of each school year.  New students may be admitted following October 1 at the beginning of the second semester at the discretion of the administrative team.  No new students will be accepted for 8th grade unless a younger sibling has been admitted, the student is a child of a Cherry Creek Academy employee, or the student has successfully attended Cherry Creek Academy for three years and left in good standing.

Education Criteria:

There are no educational criteria for admission.

Withdrawal:

Parents who are withdrawing their student from Cherry Creek Academy should notify the Registrar and complete the necessary Withdrawal Form. In addition, students who miss more than four weeks of school due to travel or other official or personal business must officially withdraw from Cherry Creek Academy.  Withdrawal paperwork becomes effective immediately upon receipt by the Registrar, whether delivered by email, mail, hand-delivery or any other delivery method, and will be forwarded for processing to the Cherry Creek School District Admissions office.
