Miss Richardson

Biography

I'm Miss Richardson and this is my third year as a 4th grade teacher with this amazing Cherry Creek Academy community. I am a Colorado native who graduated from Cherry Creek High School and went to the University of Denver (Go Bruins and Pioneers!) where I earned a BSBA major in International Business and a minor in Statistics and a Master of Arts in Elementary Education with a focus on literacy. I have taught for 18 years; 11 of them were in the Cherry Creek School District, 5 years in Colombia, South America, and 2 years at Aurora Academy Charter School. I love to travel (just got back from a month in Scandinavia), hike, and be adventurous. Additionally, I'm really looking forward to working with your student and family to make this a fun and successful school year.

Teaching Philosophy

The four essential elements that will characterize my classroom philosophy are: consistency, security, diversity, and an environment conducive to learning. I will be consistent and organized with set rules and regulations while my students are using materials in their learning centers. I will provide a secure and comfortable classroom to encourage risk-taking and trying new activities through awards and incentives. The last element would be to provide different ways for each student to learn in order to find the most effective learning style to enhance their learning. This will allow each individual student to live up to his or her full potential and educational achievements. I strongly believe that all students should have the opportunity to not only learn in my classroom, but become strong, individual students in our community. It is important that I build a strong relationship with each and every one of my students that will allow me to have a connection and know their unique strengths. I hold my students to the highest standards and expect students to meet them, as I want my students to be ready for the future. Students will grow in my class into independent students with goals to continually improve their learning and character.
