Mrs. Lori Kennedy

Hello, I am Lori Kennedy and I am extremely excited to start a new adventure at Cherry Creek Academy as the 5th and 6th grade reading teacher. I am originally from Omaha, Nebraska. I moved to Colorado with my husband Bob many years ago. We are so happy to have raised four children (two boys and two girls) in such a beautiful state. I love to spend time with family and friends especially outside exploring new places. We also enjoy attending sporting events. I am a fan of all the Colorado teams - Broncos, Rockies, Nuggets, and Avalanche, but the Huskers, Creighton Blue Jays, and the Cubs are always close to my heart.I completed my undergraduate work at Creighton University in Omaha specializing in elementary education and earned my Master’s of Education/Reading Specialist from Regis University. I have taught for over 20 years in various grade levels including preschool, 1st grade, 3rd grade, and 5th grade. All my teaching experiences have taught me so many valuable lessons and have made me the teacher I am today. I am excited to motivate students with great stories and books and to foster a love of reading at CCA. Get ready for some amazing adventures!!

“Reading is a passport to countless adventures” - Mary PopeOsborne

My teaching philosophy stems around a collaborative approach with school administration, teachers, parents, and students, building strong communication and relationships. Working together in a supportive, open manner leads to a positive and successful learning experience. Within my classroom, I strive to provide a stimulating, safe environment to grow academically, emotionally, socially, and culturally to enhance a well-rounded individual. My goal is for all students to reach their full potential through positive, differentiated learning experiences that enhance learning and create motivation. Through instruction, I want to provide in-depth opportunities for students to feel challenged to take risks and share their thoughts and perspectives. Ultimately, I want all my students to develop and grow a love of learning that ensures future academic success.
