My name is Emily Van Loan and I am so excited to be working here at Cherry Creek Academy. Teaching is my passion and I recently completed my master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Denver. I have a bachelor's degree in theater from Seattle University and because of this I always try to bring creativity into the classroom. I had the opportunity to teach English in Beijing, China for a year where I was inspired by the growth and language development of my students. I love to explore new places, whether it's hiking or camping in the great outdoors, traveling to a new state or country, or simply opening a book to discover new worlds.  Teaching Philosophy My personal teaching philosophy is centered on preparing students to be engaged, global citizens of the world by prioritizing personal relationships and holding students to high standards. I believe in nurturing the whole child, mind, body, and soul. Every child has the potential to be a force for good in our world and as a teacher, it is my responsibility to nurture and guide them on their path.
