Biography

Hey all! I’m Coach Branson, and I’m excited to be returning to CCA for my second year this fall. I absolutely loved my first year at CCA, the staff, and most importantly, the kids! It was so fun to see all the growth and enthusiasm for sports and activities that were new to many of them.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Health from Eastern New Mexico University and completed my Master of Science in Kinesiology from Indiana University before teaching in the Department of Physical Education at the United States Military Academy at West Point. I’m a lifelong learner in all things sports and activities and love imparting my knowledge to all my students.

As a student-athlete in college, I played baseball at the College of Southern Idaho and Eastern New Mexico University. I know what it takes to play at a high level, and I strive to bring that same effort into teaching PE.

Philosophy

My teaching philosophy is simple: I want all of my students to have fun! PE is all about learning new sports and activities and developing or improving their motor skills. Each student starts at a different place in their PE journey, and I want them to feel okay about that. Students will be put in uncomfortable situations in PE, and that's okay. I want them to learn and grow from those situations. I want students to understand what it's like to be part of a team, show good sportsmanship, and support each other when needed. I want my students to feel included no matter the sport or activity. Finally, I want them to leave my class looking forward to their next PE session and, further down the road, develop a lifelong love of fitness.

I am looking forward to working with your students and families to make this a fun and successful year! Can't wait to see how much we can accomplish!
